John's "Lady in Red" showing the rakish bonnet and headlights - lovely

  1. When I purchased my "Lady in Red" I had a lot of oil leaks on the engine and so took it to get new gaskets fitted all round as well as a new timing belt etc. After getting her back after two weeks I went for a run and had already completed nine miles when approaching a roundabout I saw smoke coming out of the bonnet on the right hand side. I stopped and opened up and could see a lot of oil on the tappet cover. I took the Lady back and they tested her for one day. I got it the next and went for a twenty mile run to see if there was a problem. As I turned a corner the same thing happened again, and I found oil on the tappet cover. I will return the Lady for another check up but I am convinced that the oil cap is leaking oil through the breather and dripping onto the exhaust manifold causing the smoke. Anyone else had a similar experience?
